Karl Beeman devoted most of his professional career towards occupational health & safety specializing in general industry, disaster response, and fire & Emergency Services.
Karl retired from the US Air Force Reserves after 23 years of service of which 4 were active duty. While with the US Air Force Fire & Emergency Services, he worked in operations, communications, training, fire prevention, and as a health & safety officer. In addition, Karl has worked for manufacturing and distribution as a technical specialist in protective ensembles for fire & emergency services and, served on three NFPA technical committees on protective ensembles for firefighting applications. As a health safety manager, Karl work for a large employer with exposure to general industry, construction, and environmental hazards and risks.
As an instructor, Karl taught for the OSHA Training Institute EC at Chabot Las Positas. In addition, he also presents the Essentials of Occupational Health & Safety for the FES Health & Safety Officer (SC1521), Personal Protective Ensembles for Structural and Proximity Firefighting (SC1851), and OSHA Regulatory Standards and Hazard Recognition (SC1910) courses through the Fire Department Safety Officer’s Association.
As a consultant, Karl specialized in developing health & safety training programs, injury & illness prevention programs (I2P2), and hazard based compliance programs. He had extensive experience in performing work site inspections, health & safety audits, accident investigations, job hazard analysis, and creating risk management plans for emergency services and general industry.
Karl was an active member with the American Society of Safety Engineers, the Institute for Safety & Health Management, and the Fire Department Safety Officers Association.
